Savanna had her annual physical on 9/1. She received 5 shots (immunizations). Ouch! Poor kid. Savanna didn't cry with the first two shots but the last three really got to her (and to me). Why is it that doctors/nurses want the dear moms to hold their child(ren) down? I was in perfect view of a very long needle going into my sweet Savanna's little muscled thighs. I wanted to cry right along with her. I HAD to look away. I started to feel a little dizzy, you know that dizzy feeling right before you faint? Well, we made it through the ordeal. My girl is one tough cookie (not so sure about her Mom though).
The doctor said Savanna could spike a temp after the shots and be more clingy the next few days. She did have a slight temp the first night and was a bit "emotional", "clingy" the next day.
The doctor said, "Savanna is ahead for her age". She said this after she saw Savanna running around the office, climbing on/off the chair, trying to get into the trash can, and squeezing through the doctors legs to run through the hall. I was just praying that I was meeting my developmental milestones in keeping up with her!
Savanna now says, "Nama" for "Mama", "dog", "duck", "hi", "bye bye", and "pig". She signs "milk" and "dog" and waves "hi" and "bye bye". She also knows how to blow kisses. I try to read to her every day but she isn't too interested. I do point to what she is looking at and name and describe its characteristics to help build her vocabulary. Lately she has taken my finger and led me to the refrigerator or high chair and pointed while grunting to let me know she is hungry. I love that she is making her needs known (now that was a stupid comment. When hasn't she let me know of her needs!?).
Savanna weighs 21.6 pounds and is 29.5 inches tall. Sometimes she eats a lot and other times not much at all. The doctor didn't think I needed to give her vitamins but I am anyway. It can't hurt, right? The doctor also advised me to reduce her formula and introduce whole milk. I was a bit nervous to do this because Savanna had a hard time with her milk based formula. Well, I'm happy to report she's doing just fine with 3/4 milk to 1/4 formula combination. I hope to wean her completely when the next can of Isomil is empty.
I hope to pick up her 1 year pictures from Sears this week-end. Stay tuned.....
